Resources

Hi! I thought it would be helpful to create a page of resources for parents, teachers, and care givers who would like to explore more on their own.

I’m a huge fan of John Feierabend’s resources for music Education. Here are my favorites:

If you’d like to splurge and make a great investment for the future, you can get this entire curriculum package.

This is a great introduction to John Feierabend’s philosophy and curriculum. If you’re new to teaching music to groups of young children, this is the book to get. It contains pitch exploration activities, simple songs, echo songs, rhymes, finger plays, and more. It contains lesson plans and gives teachers the tools they need to be successful with little ones.

This is his book on pitch exploration. The idea is to use fun activities to help children explore the full range of their voices. By doing these activities, children gain better control over their voices. I use activities from this book in almost every class I teach.

This book contains plenty of echo songs. These are great for helping children gain independence in their singing.

This one’s a lot of fun. I’ve used many action songs, rhymes, and finger plays from this book for use in the classroom. This is definitely one of my favorite resources for preschool aged children.

This one has a ton of songs and activities that encourage moving to the beat.

Here are some of his Cds loaded with children’s songs. The voice on most of these tracks is Jill Trinka. The accompaniments are kept very simple and Jill Trinka’s pure voice is easy for kids to match. These CDs contain many of the songs in the books listed above.

This CD is filled with classical music that kids can move to. It’s great to use with scarves or any other movement activity.

Here is my favorite resource for songs in Spanish. José-Luis Orozco did an amazing job on both the book and CD.
